Rick (aka Otter) – Registered Maine Guide & USCG Lic. Captain (1st Responder)

My name is Rick, I am a Christain, Husband, and Father of 2. Growing up in the beautiful White Mountains of NH, I cut my teeth in the numerous lakes, river and streams.  My family was lucky to have access to a camp on an island off of the Mid-Coast of Maine.  Spending many weeks each summer on that island, ultimately led me to fall in love with the ocean.  Serving as a firefighter/paramedic over the past 25 years I am excited to begin a new adventure.  After exploring and fishing the mid coast of Maine for the last 10 years I realized Captaining MEGS’s “Amazing Grace”, sharing our beautiful Maine coast, and marine-life with others is just the adventure I need.  I am fully licensed as a Maine Tidal Water Guide, Certified USCG OUPV Captain, and Maine licensed Paramedic.  A trip with me will be safe, fun and a true Maine Experience.

Donovan – USCG Lic. Master Captain (Veteran & 1st Responder)

I grew up in Central/Mid-Coast Maine and have been enjoying Maine’s woods and waters since I can remember. I’ve been with Maine Experience for almost a decade! My Military time in the US Army, National Guard, and Maritime Academy have really helped me improve my life and nautical skills that I think have reflect in my job performance captaining MEGS’s “Amazing Grace”. In my time on the charter boat “Amazing Grace” I’ve enjoyed helping many clients land stripers, mackerel, & ground fish! It is my pleasure sharing with them and watching them take in the beauty of Maine’s coast; I couldn’t ask for a better job!

The Maine Experience Hunting Guides & Pro Staff

Caleb – Registered Maine Hunting Guide

I grew up in a family of Maine Guides and have been around hunting as far back as I can remember.  Every fall I would follow my grandfather, uncle, and Dad around the woods chasing whitetails and trying to pick up on every piece of knowledge they were willing to pass down.  At 13 I harvested my first bear, and 15 I was able to harvest my first deer. Hunting was put on the back burner during my college years while I focused on school and playing football.  Once I was out of school I picked up right where I left off and shot my first big buck at the age of 21.  That’s when I decided I would expand my hunting skills by reading as many hunting books as I could get ahold of and pursue other species and found a passion to be a well-rounded woodsman.  I have since harvested multiple trophy animals and earned the Biggest Bucks in Maine patch.  As a Christain, Husband, & Father of three, I enjoy experiencing the Maine woods with my children and wife.  I’m grateful to be a part of the Maine Experience Guide Service team and share my passion and knowledge with others

Matt – Registered Maine Hunting Guide (Veteran & 1st Responder)

Growing up in Central/Mid-Coast Maine I was fortunate to watch and learn from my Dad (Jay Farris) how to navigate Maine’s forests as well as how the critters of the Maine woods move, feed, and sleep which led me to develop a huge love of chasing Maine’s big game animals. After hunting, fishing, and helping Dad on the charter boat chasing Stripers, I enlisted into the US Army Infantry at 19yo for four years. After the Army I came back to Maine to pursue wildlife and the outdoors again with my father and friends. I earned my Hunting Maine Guides patch in the spring of 2022. I have been fortunate to work on multiple guided Moose and Turkey hunts now with Maine Experience Guide Service. My favorite part of these hunting experiences is hearing the stories of fellow outdoorsman and being able to help them be safe and successful!

Rick – Registered Maine Hunting & Fishing Guide (Head bear guide)

I was born and raised in Central Maine. I have spent nearly all my life learning and enjoying all that is offered by the Maine wilderness. My love of sharing my outdoor passions prompted me to become a Registered Maine Guide in 2009.  I’m currently a licensed Hunting, Fishing, and Recreation Maine Guide. I enjoy guiding turkeys for MEGS and really feel at home running the bear camp, baits, and guided hunting in mountains of western Maine for MEGS Maine black bear clients!

Ted – Moose camp manager (Veteran & 1st Responder)

I have known Jay for 20 year’s. I have been the Camp Manager aka Camp Cook for MEGS (The Maine Experience Guide Service) since the 2017 Maine Moose seasons.

I have been “in the woods “since the age of ten. I have been in the Big Woods of Maine setting up off grid spike camps and cooking for 40 years now and have loved and appreciated every minute of it. After getting out of the US Navy I was a professional firefighter/paramedic for 20 year’s which is where I learned my cooking skills. We strive to make every experience a true Maine Experience and to help with that I strive to include Maine oriented table fare. I truly believe no matter how wet and tired you can get in a fall Maine rain/snow/sleet storm you can take the edge off with a warm home cooked meal. I also believe a campfire, friends and the “sounds of the night “will show us more about what we have in common than what separates us.

Jim – Moose camp scout, packer, & Asst. camp manager (Veteran & 1st Responder)

My name is Jim Carroll.  I am a Christian, husband, and outdoor enthusiast.  My family was a Scouting family, with my brother and I both earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

For many years, we spent one weekend every month camping; learning outdoor skills, first aid, knot tying, and why it is important to “Be Prepared” After high school, I became an EMT and firefighter.  I was already a paramedic when 9-11 happened and I felt called to use my God-given talent in service of our country, so I joined the Maine Army National Guard as a Combat Medic.  I am a combat veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan.

I’ve known and worked with Jay for over 20 years, and it is my pleasure to be part of the MEGS moose team scouting, packing, and keeping camp. There is nothing like the North Maine Woods in autumn.  I look forward to your safe, successful Maine Experience adventure.

I am a Christian, Husband, & Father. I am also a registered Maine hunting and fishing guide, as well as a licensed paramedic/firefighter for the past 25 years.  raised in central Maine, from a young age I was always wondering the woods with a fishing pole in my hands or out hunting squirrels, I have family in Northern Maine and have been fortunate to be able to spend a lot of my life hunting and fishing in the vast wilderness of northern Maine. I remember the first time Seeing the wilderness of the North Maine Woods and I was instantly hooked; I have been surrounded by registered Maine guides most of my life learning and observing; I’ve been blessed to know this is what I’ve always wanted to do. I have a particular love for moose and turkey hunting and being able to help people fill a tag of a lifetime! To do all of this while in the middle of some of the most remote wilderness in the country is an experience I truly have a passion and love for. This has only been made possible with the grace and strength given to me by the Lord.
