Come experience a fully guided Maine Black Bear hunt in the Western Maine Mountains!

The only thing that makes a bear hunt even better is doing it in the backdrop of the Western Maine mountains.

You’ll arrive on Sunday and get settled into our clean, well-built, remote Western Maine lodge nestle into the Appellation Mountains near the famed AP Trail that stretches from Georgia to Mt. Katahdin Maine! Some of our clients bring their traditional or fly-fishing gear and go to one of our many trout and smallmouth spots Sunday as well mornings throughout the weeklong hunt.

Enjoy a relaxing Sunday evening with your fellow hunters and guide discussing the next day’s hunt. Your registered Maine Experience Guide Service (MEGS) Maine Guide will go over with you all your questions, concerns, personal health/medical needs, the weeks menu, give you a safety briefing, and the details of what to expect while hunting the famed Maine black bear with us. Your guide will go over recent game camera pictures of our sites with you so you can see what the site looks like and get a good perspective of the size and class of black bears coming to the site. Before going to bed Sunday evening, it is our guide’s goal that you will have a great visual in your mind of how the hunt will go and be excited to get to it the next day.

Starting Monday your guide will bring you to your freshly baited active site in the early afternoon. You will be in a comfortable ground blind or tree stand that has been placed to give the best shot opportunity. Sit back in your site and take in nature and Maine’s beauty while you quietly wait for what is appropriately referred to as the ghost of the Maine woods (aka Black Bear) to come into the area. Typically, you’ll see more of Maine’s critters than just bears. When you have harvested your bear or when legal hunting time has ended in the evening your guide will come to your blind or stand to get you safely back to the truck and lodge.

When a bear is harvested your Maine Guide will meet you at your blind or stand, go over the scenario, and then go track your harvested bear. Your guide will field dress it, get it back to the lodge, and hung for you. If you would like to use our butcher, we will get your bear to the butcher asap. Our butcher does a great job and usually has a great turn-around time. We have an outstanding award-winning taxidermist, and we can make arrangements for you as well if you should want it mounted or a rug. No need to stress about logistics, we are happy to take care of that for you.

Want things to do while you’re on your bear hunt in addition to Maine black bear hunting?!

No problem, we got you covered! Like fishing for native Brook Trout or hard fighting Salmon and Smallmouth bass we got it all nearby. Already harvested your bear with us and looking for evening activity, how about moose spotting! In too fast paced outdoor activities; well with-in an hour or so of the lodge there is ATV rentals and whitewater rafting if you want to give it a go!

Leave your worries behind and let one of our MEGS Registered Maine Guides help you experience an awesome guided Maine Black Bear hunt and full-on Maine Experience!

Maine Black Bear Hunting Testimonials

Guided Bear Hunt: Was referred to Maine Experience guide service through a friend Jay was very good with communicating with me from 2 years before my hunt to one last call on my drive home to make sure we were happy. I tagged a good bear opening evening. Rick was our guide and I can tell you he puts the work into multiple sights. It was a very remote camp, and we didn’t have to worry about running into other hunters. Overall, a good experience and I would definitely get ahold of Jay if I ever wanted to hunt or fish in Maine again!
